Q: How it works?
A: 1. Start uploading a file and you will be prompted with a pick up code.
2. Forward pick up code to file recipient.
3. Once recipient enters the code the transfer will start.
Q: What is maximum size of file I can send?
A: You can send files of any size. Currently there is no limit.
Q: My speed is too slow! Help!
A: The actual speed experienced by customers may vary and depends upon several factors, most of which are outside of PipeBytes control, including speed of your and your peer's internet connection and connectivity between your and your peer's ISP and PipeBytes servers, etc. However the speed will be limited to 5 Mbps, unless you purchase a speed pass (speed up to 30 Mbps per transfer).
Q: What if file transfer was interrupted. Can I resume?
A: Currently resume function is not supported. However, we plan to support it in future versions.
Q: Can I send file to more than one person at a time?
A: Not in current version. Stay tuned for announcements.
Q: What version of browsers and operating systems do you support?
A: We are trying to support all major browsers on all popular operating systems. If you are having problems with particular browser, please let us know.
Q: Great service! Is it really free? How do you plan to cover your bandwidth expenses?
A: Our service is supported by advertisement.
Q: Can I advertise on your page?
A: Yes! Please contact us for details.
Q: What about privacy?
A: We take your privacy very seriously. We do not store your files. They are sent directly to your peer. Also we neither ask nor retain any personal information from our users.
Q: I am transferring some very sensitive information, how can I ensure it is not exposed during the transfer?
A: While we promise to guard confidentiality of your information, it might be exposed to other parties, like your and your recipient ISPs. If you are using corporate network, your administrator also potentially may intercept your data. The only sure way to ensure confidentiality is to encrypt your file prior to transfer, using utility like AxCrypt
Q: I want to use PipeBytes functionality on my own site
A: You can embed PipeBytes widget
